On the old Jazz Bass today
I think it is going to get a flatwound restring to LaBellas. A bit worried about the extra tension as this Bass is a bit fragile in the neck pocket/join
That said it’s been a great gigging Bass, lightweight, lots of options, looks cool.

Looks cool - understatement of the year!
I prefer Precision over Jazz mostly
I’ve never really got the hang of the bridge pick up. But this is a nice, resonant, lightweight gigging instrument

I'm on my second go with a Jazz, I pick up a P and its like home.
I like 'em both.
I've been playing P basses and Stingray mostly lately, but I've been wanting to playing the Jazzes a bit more too.
I climbed on the back of a giant albatross which flew through a crack in the cloud to a place where happiness reigned all year round and music played ever so loudly

Do they actually play differently or is it just the toan?
The toan is definitely different. More bite and mids with the Jazz and also a much slimmer neck.
But P Bass necks also vary a lot. The neck on a 70's P is very different indeed from a 60's one. 60's P necks are generally wider and shallower. 70's P bass necks are deeper and a bit narrower.

I’ve got the one piece baseball bat maple neck P 76
I haven’t played a pre CBS but I couldn’t feel any difference on a ‘65
There’s a whole thing about neck shape codes but TMI for me

I'm hoping that skinny legs are good for playing bass. Is there hope for me yet?
Humour aside this is a good analogy. Groove is what I would like to achieve - any tips from the old hands?
