I'd be interested in how a Harley Benton bass compares to the Artist hybrid P-J basses.

About the electronics criticism though, it's a total crapshoot across multiple price tiers and different brands. Godin guitars doesn't shield some of their guitars, like the Session HT. G&L Fullerton guitars don't shield either. Artist guitars do shield their guitars, even their entry level ones. I'm not saying shielding a guitar is necessary but it's nice when you open up the guitar to find out the manufacturer made some effort to help reduce EMI.

I generally rewire all my guitars and get a setup done anyway, I like that if I get a shit one they’ll send me another too, great customer service!

New guitar day :)

I bought the Artist HG39303 guitar. This is to replace my old junky Aria classical.

First impressions have been good. For a $349 guitar, it has definitely exceeded my expectations. It feels like a Cordoba C5 I've played at the Rockshop (priced at $600).

The strings were heavily rusted when I got it, meaning it was probably sitting in the warehouse for months. After cleaning the fretboard and putting on a set of D'addario hard tension classical guitar strings, it sounds good.

Neck relief and intonation are both Achieved with Merit. I was worried I might get a lemon. Solid guitar for the money! Phew.

Yeah, I sorted my jazz out last week. Rolled fretboard, truss rod, tiny amount of neck shim. Got it to where I like.

Pickup change in its future though
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

I would debate that, some of the buckethead solos on CD are killer, its way better than the spaghetti incident!

A couple of gats have been pushed out time frame wise ugggh.

Considering a Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG FR, uses the good new Retro 70 EMGs, a Floyd Rose 1000, SSteel frets, quality hardware.

BUT, given I have to pay GST even though its under $1k shipped, the Artist black and gold hard tail despite not FR is very similar, it has the double cutaway. Id probably swap those EMGs ou for 57/66TW, with the HB I was going to put a Sustainiac in the neck, with a FR and a Wah, they just become too much fun to put down haha.

I could route the Artist guitar. I know where to get hardened steel FR Specials for very cheap.

Also Im wondering about the thinline, has anyone bought this yet? Personally I do not like the finish so Id probably apply my own touch, provided its a nice single hole thinline tele to play?
