What are the rules on newcomers at these things?

Should I start at Hamilton and work my way up, or is it ok to come straight to the big smoke?

Bring as much gear as you can possibly fit in your car, bonus points for old and smelly (the gear, you can shower beforehand) and no jazz chords or exotic scales, pentatonic over standard 12 bar shuffles is your limit.

Or rather, rules are turn up, play some gear and have some fun
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

I dunno. I've never been to one. Beeg will chime in, I'm sure. People seem to listen to him for some reason. Probably cos he can ban us. Or at least threatens to.

Err yeah, jazz chords and exotic scales... I'll be sure to leave those (which I definitely do have) at home! :)

What's the cab situation? I've got 1, maybe 2 100W heads (if I can sort out the headshell in time), but no cab to handle them at full bore. Sad I know.

Can also bring an R7 and CS strat (Mary Kaye).

I'll have a 2x12 that might handle 50 of your 200 Watts.

There aren’t really any rules, we tried doing talk through your gear things but some find it intimidating. There should be cabs there etc. I usually just sit in a cupboard and drink beer.

It’s a good chance to see and play gear you might not have seen, treat it with respect. I have nothing to bring really, might be doing a bit of jamming.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

August date is taken with a big family get together. September is ridiculous too. I am notorious for whimsical decision making, so could just turn up on the day.

I think the rule on newcomers is probably "if you're bringing an R7 and/or Mary Kaye Strat, you're very welcome".

In all seriousness, be good to meet some new people.

I hope your R7 is green and smelly.

I've got one that can nominally handle 60W (2xG12H30), so we could run them in parallel. Might be risking it with the Super Bass though. I'll probably bring the Waza-TAE along, just in case.

It's certainly "roadworn". Finish started checking after I moved to NZ due to the humidity!

On second thought... maybe leave the plexi at home and bring out the real guns - Roland Microcube and Bad Monkey? "Edge of breakup" is for chumps anyway!

I’ve got nothing over 30watts. Might leave them at home and bring an air raid siren.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
