there was always something confusing about the 50's.

Looks really good. Can you put a photo up of the tool you use for that dove tailing?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

I use one of these, it’s a pita to set up but one set I can do 4 joints in about 10 mins, could do it quicker but the price of pine at the moment I’m measuring everything 4 times not twice….

I’ve glued some sandpaper to the top clamp too as I found the top piece of wood had a tendency to move slightly, rock solid now well worth doing. I could glue a whole sheet on the bottom and it would never move. It moves because the router is pushing against it and the framework is smooth painted so unless you really get some girth behind those clamps, theres a chance the wood will push back. This was the easiest solution I came up with. Better to be safe than sorry, said the bishop to the actress.
Also its worth spending time making sure all the side stops etc are square. I have an old comb jig I got at carbotec that I prefer as it does through dovetails on any width of wood but I need new bits and they no longer stock them So I've made this one work - limited width though sadly.

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
oh and its pretty much the harborfreight jig, so its worthwhile checking out set up youtube videos on that. Its not perfect but I spent a good couple of hours with it yesterday, making test cut after test cut and its as perfect as I could get it now. This morning I did some more adjustments and now I'm actually happy with it. Fucked if I get different thickness wood though, time to buy that thicknesser I've been wanting
As an engineer, I just find everything to be sloppy, I wish I could afford the perfect engineering jigs, but I'd be looking at least 5 times the cost. Currently I can't justify that.

Courier just showed me his package so the Laney Cub 8 Super is going to get a Jansen C8R to go along with the JJ toobs that I've had sitting ready from Conway's bluporium of guitar porn!

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
Swapped out the stock HH speaker, Ruby 6V6, and JJ 12AX7, for a Jensen C8R, JJ 6V6S, and Sovtek 12AX7WB
Can only play quietly at the moment but will be interesting when I crank it up as it should lose the fartiness of the stock speaker!

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
Its possibly a massive over investment in a cheap amp but the cleans sound fantastic, can't wait to crank it and see how it sounds when she gets dirty!
