Bought this off TM last week. Big shout out to BG for picking it up and arranging courier for me! Much appreciated! NZG community at its best.
It has had a neck repair by Mr Glyns so isn’t a mint, show piece by any stretch. But it is a great playing Les Paul
And it’s been around 10 years since I sold a very similar looking LP Standard to pay mortgage/keep roof over kids heads etc. My very understanding wife agreed at the time that I’d buy back a Gibson by the time I was 40 if we could afford to.
I’m still a little undecided on the ceramic 500T and 496r pickups as the bridge is particularly hot, it immediately puts my amp into thick overdrive where my Tele would just be breaking up. I kinda like them actually but it evokes heavy grunge riffs and it’s hard to get away from wanting to play a certain style.
I’m tempted to try some low wind PAFs, or should I just keep it as is?

I like that tobacco burst! I've had the same pickup combo before and never really like them, I sold the guitar but I think I would have gone for a PAF style pickup if I'd kept it.

I keep hearing (maybe inaccurately) that Gibson LPs are "heavyweights"... especially Classics. How much does this one weigh? As crazy as those Vintage LPs?

The custom shop Kossoff Les Paul's replicate the neck break. I assume it's just a cosmetic detail and they don't deliberately break and repair them!

That'd be quite an impressive feat otherwise. It has some lovely checking coming in, by the controls and up by the pup selector. It weighs about 10lbs (4.5kg) iirc
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

I am tempted but it seems like a bit of an expensive rabbit hole to go down. I’ve played Seth Lovers which I liked but apart from
That I’ve only had Gibson pickups, Burst Buckers, Classic 57s.
I was always interested to try the Diarmazio 36th Anniversary pickups which could be a good option.
And I’ve noticed a lot of people recommending Mr Glyns pickups in general so that could be an option to try.
