Re: Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars thread
Here's a couple more to chew on...
My Eastman El Rey II. It has a short centre block, it is mostly there to support the bridge, and does not extend further. I really love the feel of this one, it is super-responsive.
My Doozy Carl Carlton Single-cut. This one is the size of a 335, whereas most Doozies are much smaller. A very Gretschy guitar in terms of sound
My G&L ASAT Z3. I love those pickups. This one also sounds a bit Gretschy, lots of sweet top end.

Re: Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars thread
Last full hollow body I made in 2020. Still want to make an ebony or puriri pickguard and pickup rings as well as puriri knobs.
Got some good feedback from a few forum members re neck girth and pickups height and these have been addressed. Although some might find the neck still two hands full...
The guitar is light, well balanced and those TV Jones Classics really shine in it.
Love me that fretboard with the paua inlays...

Re: Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars thread
I have one of these, surprisingly useful, wide neck and wider string spacing usual, well to me anyway…

...and before some others of you start hissing at it with the 'sign of the cross' fingers and all...it has been fitted with a 60s, DeArmond 1100, Super Chief floating pu and control box since the photo was taken. Amplifiable firewood?rickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 12:01 pm Some lovely instruments here chaps. I'm not sure why the hollow thing is so attractive to me but I'm a big fan, even of the more chambered type instruments such as my Rick and Maton. I've always wanted a full hollow and so one day I intend to buy and then butcher one of these:
I'll install a bridge pickup, install some type of fixed bridge and in the perfect world, bind the fretboard.

I like those. Eric Hauer (sp), YouTube guitar teacher plays one and it sounds fab. Got any pics?NZTone.e wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 1:42 pm I have one of these, surprisingly useful, wide neck and wider string spacing usual, well to me anyway…

Re: Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars thread
Quite a few of my builds are semi hollow but these two are the most obviously so....

That first one is stunning. Beautifully cut F holes. What happened to truss rod cover?

Re: Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars thread
The circular truss rod cover is a great idea but surprisingly hard to do. On that one it looks a bit deep in the pic - not so much in real life.
I still have issues with the placement of fretbord/trussrod/headstock in my production process. As I laminate the headstock then re plane the headstock and neck, the point of the angle shifts....I need to get better at that. Traditional truss rod slots and covers have more "give". The circular cover is harder as the angle for the allen key has to be right..
