Thinking Of Picking This Up...

Harmony Stratotone of unknown year (old), single De Armond gold foil pick up, apparently a baseball bat-ish size neck, and looks funky.

Seller will not ship internationally, I've got a couple of mates in the US that can work as a go-between. Just have to stump up the international shipping, as God only knows when I'll be able to get over to the US again.

I'll see how the auction runs, but if the price is right I'll definitely snap it up.
Yes, M'Lady.

Very nice looking H48, great sounding guitars, full hollowbody with the De Armond goldfoils, I would love to own one but out of my price range now.

I have played a couple of H49s and owned an H47, they are a different but great sound.

That's cool - I've never played a Harmony before, but I was really interested by the hollow body, fat neck, and gold foil. Found a couple of interesting YouTube videos that helped sink the hooks in me:

The auction has two and a half days to run and I'm afraid it'll go for more than I'm willing to spend...

there is a local guitarist that plays blues on one of these, forgot his name.
cool sounding guitars imo
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Yikes.

Sold for $1400 NZD. Not willing to stump up that much for a guitar that I can't play first and assess, especially as it had known issues. Not to mention shipping and import duties.

Oh well. It's not like I really needed another guitar...

...yet.

That's impossible! Every guitarist always needs yet another guitar. It's always the next guitar that'll make us better players right! Right!?

That has given me a really great business idea!

Let’s import a bunch, take the necks off, put them back on again and then say they are “Assembled in NZ”. Then we can sell them for $500 a pop. Who’s in?

Nah - just call them CAPO... he had no problem calling his guitars 'Bogner' :-)

It would be funny to list a couple of crap guitars with capo logo on them. See what the guy does :-)
