Johnnys cabs.... *Lots of progress*
Been tasked of providing cabs for Johnny Mullets new amp Getting parts is a mission during lockdown but I think we've done ok. Most parts arrived before from local sources.
Have been working on it now for a few weekends and the end is in sight. Cabs are about there, need to do a back cover and front for the Head. Anyway pics in abundance. Excuse the untidy, its been raining so photos inside only!
here we go... took a few pics yesterday, but they were mostly blurry for some reason
One that came out!
action shot! Yes was about to do some Soddering as the americans like to say...
wow! fully soddered!
real british greenback!
Is it an open back?
or a closed back?
Cab complete... Decent oversize, looking forward to hearing how it sounds.
and another...
Head cab, well underway. Definitely Marshall-esque
Most of the progress. Amp just placed in situ.
Next steps....
And there you go

Looking good...
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

That amp sounded really good into my 112 Mesa Wideboy cab with the Celestion Blue. The open back/closed back option is a good idea too.

That solder looks like it could use some love though.

That's why it's called 'soddering'. Phucking americans, wonder how they soldier on...MikeC wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:38 pmMust agree...ToneLoungeMatt wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:37 pm Looking awesome.

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Geez, everyone's a critic. I've been soldering for the last 40 years and I don't need you young whippersnappers teaching me how to suck eggs etc blah blah blahMikeC wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:38 pmMust agree...ToneLoungeMatt wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:37 pm Looking awesome.

6 pots for a single ended amp. What they all do?

Re: Johnnys cabs....
Master Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble, Vol2, Vol1 (Vol2 & Vol1 are pre-amp gain). Makes the amp very tinkerable!
