Bill Hicks. Comedy is best when it's about something, even though it never changes anything, although we kid ourselves that it does.

Unchained. That 7/8s time pre-chorus used to fox me until I saw a lesson with Uncle Ben Eller.
Tied in first place for best Van Halen song. The other first place winners: Ain't Talkin, Atomic Punk, I'm the One, Panama, House of Pain, Runnin with the Devil. I may have left some out.

Hang 'em High. Knocked me on my a.r.s.e the first time I heard it. Also the first time I heard Van Halen.werdna wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 8:46 pm Unchained. That 7/8s time pre-chorus used to fox me until I saw a lesson with Uncle Ben Eller.

Mean Streets was my first exposure to VH. I was pretty young and not all that ready for it tbh.Molly wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:06 pmHang 'em High. Knocked me on my a.r.s.e the first time I heard it. The Undertones. You've Got My Number. Once saw a band knock this off in a pub and was the best three minutes of pub music I had ever heard - and probably still is.

I played my kids Teenage Kicks during tea the other day. Told them about John Peel famously playing it twice. They said something about Tik Tok and that was the end of that....werdna wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 8:55 pm The Undertones. You've Got My Number. You need to impress upon the gravity, else you need to lose them. Harsh but...Molly wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 9:00 pmI played my kids Teenage Kicks during tea the other day. Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...
