Custom pickguards in NZ?

Post by ReidySetGo »

Does anyone know of a site in NZ that I could grab a pickguard like this from? Warmoth could do it but shipping is pricey.
And an engraver I asked doesn't think it would be the same.

Just hijacking this...

I'd like to get a pickguard made... well I just need to find someone with a band saw I guess.

Any good sources for the material other than guitarparts.co.nz?

I have a piece of black single ply pickguard material I got years ago with an order from www.guitarfetish.com could potentially sell if that was what you are after...

It might come out better with more than just a bandsaw.... Is it a standard shape or something different?

I've bought material off aliexpress (and guitarfetish as JB suggests) and what I've received looks ok.

I made some mighty fine pickguards by first making a template of soft material and filing & sanding that to required shape. Then use my table router to cut a hard template, then make the final one from pickguard material. You can also use a bit with an angle to give the edges a bevel.
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

This is exactly it. Templates, acrylic and a bit of double sided tape. I also have a laser cutter that does the trick.

Nothing is set up at present due to not having a suitable workshop, so I'm of no help at present sadly.
