Just got a ‘57 Goldtop from gregsguitars.de in Germany. Good prices, free shipping and (unknown to me at the time) put the value on the box as €600 so next to no tax when it arrived. Well worth a look.

Wow, that's great to know. His YT channel has had some really cool guitars. Pity I can't really watch it, they all blur together into something I can't really enjoy.

Yes I know the relic job is going to look like shit and I'm probably better to pay the extra and get a Fender, but still...

Its almost impossible to make a poly finish look nice when its reliced, plus resale...

Those are strange; they have a clear top coat over the relicing so they feel perfectly smooth to the touch. However they're not bad guitars at all.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
