HNAD: Something a bit different
PaulWD (I think that's his forum name) came to Gearfest today armed with an incredible selection of amps. Coincidentally, when I bought that PRS the other week the seller showed-off a few of Paul's amps too. They're housed in all sorts of weird and wonderful cases. Anyway, there was one in particular today that just sounded incredible with a Strat. When KDawg cranked his Bare Knuckle Strat through it it just reminded me of Rory Gallagher's tone. Beautiful with lower output Strat pickps too. It's based on a Bassman 5C5 circuit (no, didn't mean anything to me either...) and is housed in a case that for decades housed one of the Geraldine cinema amps. Anyway, it was for sale so I grabbed it. Thanks Paul.
I'll have to make a nice case for it. At least something to protect the tubes.
Edit: Reg recorded a wee snapshot.

I think it's an amp that does one thing but does it well. I didn't like it much with humbuckers. Very much a vintage Strat / Tele amp.jeremyb wrote:That thing sounded incredible, it spoiled us for every other amp!!

If you must, you could get it powdercoated a nice misty buff, like last time. That worked out so well...

Why must you constantly remind me of my failings? What of my successes? The time I wallpapered an Explorer in floral flock. That worked a treat.Bg wrote:If you must, you could get it powdercoated a nice misty buff, like last time. That worked out so well...

Re: HNAD: Something a bit different
Even tho I don't have tubes/valves anymore it still increases the pulse when I see a amp stripped back and to be able to produce that tone
Awsome
Gas is now flowing lol

I think he said he had two amps from the cinema. That said, I'm not sure what, if any, components were used.Reg18 wrote:I’d like to know what transformers this had, as in can Paul build another one which would sound identical?
