Post by Kris »

hey all, just wondering about the current market value on an amp.Its a mates that he's been trying to sell for ages but he's pretty stubborn on price.Understandable as a head/cab combo it was 4k+ new......he's been after 2k+ but just wondering what a more realistic expectation is.its a mkII 100w rockerverb head in VG condition.Cheers!

Reverb price guide has that head going between $1500 and $2500 nzd equivalent. Prices have been dropping as of late but there's one on there now for $1800.

Take it fwiw since it's predominantly an American user base.

Possibly not close enough spec wise to be relevant but I had a 50 watt mk 2 combo for sale a while ago. Was on TM for $1350 for an eternity until I finally traded it for a guitar.

Market wise I don't think the wattage matters, 50w and 100w are worth the same. So I'd say the previous 50w prices apply.

My reading of the mkii is that it's the least desirable of the three due to the clean channel being changed from the mki. It was put back in the mkiii. I've never seen a mkii schematic to check what actually changed so I couldn't say for sure.

I might be wrong but the mk2 had a middle control which I believe was previously not present.

Yep it did, I had one, was a nice sounding amp.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Yep that's correct. The mki is a fender ish clean channel. So they could have changed the eq entirely ala marshall, like the crunch channel, or just made the mid band variable instead of fixed. Couldn't say without a schematic.

Would it be around 1100-1200 for the head, and 700-800 for the cabinet?
