That was pretty meh. I am, or probably rather I was at least a huge Satch fan, but he ran out of ideas some time ago and this is a good example of that.jeremyb wrote:New Satch!

Where's the song?
I always reckon these guys need a platform. Otherwise, it's just a skills demo.
All the gear... absolutely no idea...

Yeah - he's amazing. Southeastern especially.Molly wrote:He really has. Check out his live versions of Whipping Post and Into the Mystic. He's a great songwriter too.MattH wrote:Isbell's got it, man.
Been following him since his DBT days. The Dirty South was my favourite for the longest time, and it was always his tunes I gravitated towards.
They lost a lot when he moved on.
What's your take on his contemporaries? Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton?

Far be it from me to be critical of someone else's ropey playing, but well... I don't know what else to say. You need to hear it for yourself really.
I thought it was a one man band thing, but it's a GuitarCenter demo.
The comments are fairly non-compromising...

I came to him later than you. Only in the last couple of years in fact so I've had to backtrack to hear his early stuff. I'll check out those others you mentioned. Thanks.MattH wrote:Yeah - he's amazing. Southeastern especially.Molly wrote:He really has. Check out his live versions of Whipping Post and Into the Mystic. This is amazing. They could have made it more classical in style but, whatever.
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
