I'm planning on doing the same to my Baja. Well, not blue but a refined just the same.
Re: Sunburst Tele refinish
Guess it depends on the type of blue. Probably caught me off guard as I personally think Jeremy’s Tele looks great in sunburst

Re: Sunburst Tele refinish
From what I remember from other posts, the best way to remove a poly finish is with a heat gun. I've got one if you want to borrow it.
A bunch of us around Chch have spray gear. I've got a compressor and hose but I think my gun has clogged up. You're more than welcome to borrow that stuff too. Talk to Reg and (lostininverness) Grant.
Mirotone in Bromley makes nitro paint. If I recall correctly, it's about $50 for a litre. That's more than enough for a guitar. You need to take a colour sample so they can match it.

Re: Sunburst Tele refinish
Soaking your gun parts in spray gun cleaner or graffiti remover should clean it. Place the clogged bits in a jar with the cleaner and leave it for a few days/weeks, the clog will be soft and easily scrapped/pushed out.kdawg2a wrote:From what I remember from other posts, the best way to remove a poly finish is with a heat gun. Re: Sunburst Tele refinish
The last time I stripped it got a bit messy tbh!
Heat gun, paint scrapper and quite a lot of elbow grease.
Once I polished her up though it was a very satisfying experience!
