NGD: Jazzmaster/Jaguar hybrid
Have already posted pics of this but thought Grants workmanship deserves its own thread!
Body is built by Lostinverness (Grant) made from Tasmanian Blackwood and Macropcaroa Top.
The top wood is from my parents farm which was planted my birth year (1982) and was milled around 10 years ago.
Neck is off a cheap Strat copy but I really love it! If you find one that feels right then it is right?
I’ll be doing a stain on this guitar and building a pickguard.
It’s likely to be a 2 tone subtle burst on the top (think 50s Strat with light yellow/Amber with a coffee brown around the edges)
Depending on how it all goes.
Anyway here are the important bits, the pics.

That guitar has finally given me GAS for custom build body to go with my spare Tele neck. I have a log of ash that has been sitting around for years. Reg, how did you get the macrocarpa to Grant? Was it already milled down to a slab of approximately desired dimensions?

No he took it to a local place to cut it down to the right thickness. Don’t think it was a huge cost either.codedog wrote:That guitar has finally given me GAS for custom build body to go with my spare Tele neck. Very cool

Just a short one, like a Cabronita style. There will still be plenty of wood for everyone to admire!twangnsnarl wrote:Looks lovely. Seems a shame to cover that wood with a pickguard though.
