Very nice, often wondered how loud these are acoustically with the smallish F holes.
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

That looks lovely!bobiron wrote:Just finished the work on this Hofner Senator 53 for a mate.
Fret level, crown and polish, bridge contouring and tail piece repair. general clean & setup.
Has a great vibe and quite bright sounding. At some point its its life it lost the pick guard and a pickup was installed.

Some much knowledge and skills here.
All I have managed to successfully do so far this weekend is spill my coffee twice

Todays job, fixing my mates Ultimaker 2 3d printer, new print head and wiring for it. Works a treat. My god these are good printers...no tone wood involved though.

Re: What's on your work bench?
Had the Aria 5520 Bass on the workbench for a bridge replacement. Had a bridge similar to the Gibson bridges used on the EB range. So it stank. Intonation by adjusting the angle of the half round bridge bit and a tone killah.
Been wanting to upgrade for sometime and finally took the plunge, Hipshot Supertone 4-string Bass Bridge arrived this week.
I knew it wasn't going to be straightforward due to gibson imperial v aria metric. But it actually ended up being easy!
First problem was the old bridge was screwed on and their were no post bushings, they were integral to the actual bridge. This allowed the rudimentary height adjustment
Wot no posts?
I found a couple of old ones I had lying in the parts box which were very close to the size of hole in the body - I opened the hole about 1/2 mm. And they fit in snugly. Had to move the grounding wire slightly but it worked a treat.
Had to buy 3!!!! Allen Bolts (hate you mitre10) and I ground the diameter of the heads down a tad, also took a bit off the top so they didn't stick out to far.
The post centers were exactly correct - that made the job a lot easier!
And Bobs your Aunties Hubby! All back together - adjusted correctly, better tone and intonated!!!!
The only annoying thing now is my colour coded strings

Re: What's on your work bench?
Been clearing projects away to finally get into winding some pickups with my winder. These are single pole bobbins with a dummy coil. I expect to make a few mistakes along the way and probs waste some wire in the process. Just getting my head around polarity, winding direction etc at the moment and figure out what DC resistance I should shoot for, for both coils. Luckily there is some really good reference stuff online for this to help out.

Re: What's on your work bench?
Aria Bass back on the work bench today.
Lowered the action yesterday and it highlighted a couple of nasty dead spots. Off with the neck so I could give it a dressing.
Something uniquely satisfying about lovely shiny frets!
