Delay pedal thumpy times

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

Quick question
Annoying thump after each not with delay pedal.
Is that ubiquitous or just have a pedal that's prone to that.
Using ibanez tone shifter.
Its kind of annoying.
I hear the not replayed but also an annoying lower register thump. Not noticable on lower notes (presumably as it's covered up) but with higher notes it's annoying.

Not ubiquitous. I wonder if you could put an eq after it to cut the bass making the thumps, but that sounds like a pain.

I notice that too! However, I noticed it was mostly when I mute the note in a particular, possibly abrupt, way. If I consciously mute it a wee bit more gently I notice the thump is barely there. That doesn't always work out though. But yes, it is noticeable, and I have not encountered a pedal that doesn't do that yet.

Caveat, my ears are not terribly discerning, and I'm barely a player.

I do palm mute a fair bit for surf music. That does make it more obvious.
I don't use delay much at all but there are one or two tunes where it's useful.
Will probably just live with it rather than go on a mystical peyote desert pedal journey

Can you turn the mix down on the delay so the repeats are more subtle?
