Man software is getting good these days!
hey all, hope everyone is doing well.
just thought i would share my latest experience with amp/fx sim software. i have been working on a new song and having sold my real amps many moons ago i rely 100% on software. i have previously been using plugins from Neural DSP. The Nolly and Abasi versions specifically. I have also had great tones (to my ear!) from S-Gear by Schuffam Amps.
They are stellar. I recently picked up Guitar Rig 6 by Native Instruments. Tbh, it was Pete Thorns demo that sold me. All i can say is wow. Pete included his presets with it and as expected they are just great! Very inspiring tones and they have driven me to write things and come up with ideas i probably wouldn't have without this tool.
Great stuff! A+++ recommend.

Yup, about to purchase the Nolly Neural DSP set.
I have a bunch of the free sims and cab impulses that sound damn good too so I figure thos will be a nice step up.
Good to see guitar rig still getting the love. Was jamming that back in V1 & V2

Agree, some of the software available these days really makes you wonder why you'd bother going to the effort of mic'ing your amp for recording. I just have GTR solo and even that's not bad.

Ditto... maybe...
Anyway, just pulled the trigger. From what I've seen, and what I (can) play, I don't think I could go too far wrong with Wong!

The Cory Wong one is killer, I will miss recording the katana direct, but I can do the same with the spark and it sounds really great too!

I have Cory Wong and Plini... thinking about Nolly before the sale ends. Definitely for home recording these plugins are SCARY realistic.

Damn, pretty good reviews all round eh? It seems like a good chunk of money even at half price. These would be the way to go if you wanted a portable practise solution with a laptop?
Loving it so far
