If you could download skills...
If you could download the skills and musical knowledge of another guitarist into your brain (only once) who would you choose ?
I'm currently thinking mine would be Mark Knopfler, but EVH and Greg Koch are also tempting.

Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

John Mayer, cause as much as I love the super technical / mega knowledgeable about theory based players, I'd also like to play in front of thousands of people every night!

Paul Gilbert so I can shred at stupid speeds. Outside the shred skills his more recent stuff incorporating a slide has some pretty tasteful playing.

I don't need skills downloading, I need finger transplants.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

When I saw the thread title, the first skill I thought of was Diplomacy.
Then I read the guitarists name-checked so far and had to confirm my first instinct. Yep... diplomacy.

Skills and musical knowledge? Hmm... I assume that comes with musical style? I'm tossing up between John Mayer and Mark Knopfler, leaning on the MK side.

grafting on someone else's fingers might be needed too. I know most of my shortcomings are due to lack of practice, but watching a few of these great guitarists on youtubes and seeing these big hands, and long fingers doing stuff my short stumpy fingers will never reach.

JJ Cale would be close to the top of my list. Understated genius (Eric says so too!!).sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 11:00 am If you could download the skills and musical knowledge of another guitarist into your brain (only once) who would you choose ?
