Flat wound chromes for slide?
Tele is long overdue for strings, this one is always set in G tuning and I use light jazz strings with wound third.
Was in The Rotorua RS perusing strings & things and saw a set of D'Addario chrome flat wounds 52-12, bought em, yet to string up.
I'd imagine they might be good for slide, less string noise, some say dull sounding.
Anyone with an opinion on this?

Interested in hearing about your experience with these strings for slide.

Used to play with flatwounds on my old Esquire. 11-50 D’Addarios they were. Sounded great, especially through the 5E3 I also had at the time. A bit darker but then a Tele can do with that. Give them a go.

I don't play slide, but use Barre chords all the time, so all my electrics have D'Addario flat wounds fitted to stop the squeaking with chord changes.

If it doesn't squeak, it's a piano.H671 wrote:I don't play slide, but use Barre chords all the time, so all my electrics have D'Addario flat wounds fitted to stop the squeaking with chord changes.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Works for Blake Mills on his Coodercaster.
