Read up on the current stuff last week.... Seems Hook has isolated himself somewhat.
Yeah some what. I couldn't pick sides in that one and wouldn't want too. Seen both hooky's tours and new orders tours of recent times. Enjoyed both as much, they actually want to play nowadays, whereas back in the eighties they just wanted to be stoned :) We didn't notice, we were the same.
If your gut instinks tell you something isn't right. You are usually right.

Played this a few times live, actually goes down well. One of those 'I think I've heard that before' numbers for older (read: 40+) crowds who remember Fast Times At Ridgemont High

The solo from Out in the Fields, Gary Moore - thanks to Molly for posting the clip. Getting my Aeolian chops tightened up.

I had all the YJM tabs and books back in late 80s. Practiced my ass off but could only do a few bits here and there. Mostly the three string arpeggio stuff. Flat out alternate picked shred eludes me to this day. I will get close, but if I switch to other styles and do not practice it, I lose it very quickly. Not a natural thing for me. Too much work. I decided to play to my natural strengths instead, which is legato and bending, because I am left handed and play right handed (better control of fretting hand than pick). Still fv<ks me off that I can't shred at times though. I think if a person is going to be able to shred well, it will become apparent quite early on, so no point flogging a dead horse if it ain't gonna happen.

Having a massive change of tack, going through a major Hendrix / Frusciante phase at the moment, so back into standard goes all the guitars and time to learn to play that kind of stuff, going to be hard going but quite rewarding I can imagine!

Needed a new goal now I'm not in a band, time to take on some new challenges and grow as a guitarist.

Shine - Collective Soul. Great solo, requires a bit more skill to play, compared to other grunge stuff.
