You definately need an EMG pickup for that then. I've toured with bands that have recorded with Adam D and I've managed to pretty much pinch his recording/live settings for my own rig.

Get a dec guitar in Drop C

Maxon OD808 overdrive pedal
NS2 Supressor

Peavey 5150
half decent cab (get a mode four cab! hehe)

But yeah, you'll really need an EMG 81 if you want to do that.

I told him I was looking for Metallica's black album tone but with a usable clean (as opposed to a completely shit clean, ala EMGs) and these were the suggestion.
Bareknuckles cost even more than EMGs... :?
Worth it, IMO. EMG clean is really rubbish, just horrid. I might post some clips on youtube once I get mine so you guys can see what you think.

If you do the 18volt mod on an EMG guitar [adding a second battery clip in series] the EMG clean tone becomes impressive. Less compression, more punch & more clarity. Do it, it'll cost you all of $5

A little chorus solves everything ;) I dunno, I think Zakk Wylde has (had?) a very nice clean tone. Good old fashion double tracking also makes things sound a lot better on the whole :D
