Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
I recently loaned out my CS7 power supply to a friend which meant dismantling my board and rebuilding it which was long over due anyway.
I’m now having some issues running certain pedals which it used to do no problem.
My HX Stomp used to run off it (with the 2 adapters, green and red) but now it won’t turn on off the 500ma output I used to run it off. Also my MC6 midi pedal doesn’t want to work on any of the outputs either.
All my low mA drive pedals power up fine.
I noticed there is a blue power LED on the CS7 which shines brighter when I turn on certain pedals as well, don’t remember that ever being a thing.
Any suggestions?
Running, HX Stomp, MC6 Midi controller, Diamond Comp, 2-3 drive pedals.

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
Yes it has dip switch’s for voltage, all set to 9v.
I feel like I may have overlooked something obvious like this though or it’s got some issues that need fixing. Hoping the first option

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
Does the Stomp power up with nothing else connected to the cs7?
I recall it needing a different adapter cable, perhaps two, on the stomp (reverse?) and the stomp has a big power up spike.
EDIT: re-read and you’re aware of that
Switching power supplies like the CS7 will take care of the start up spike…makes me wonder if someone tried to power too much over the total mA of the supply itself

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
So it does power up on its own fine and then if I add all the other pedals after I’ve power the HX it’s all good!
Not sure why it used to work regardless but at least I’ve found a solution.

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
That is weird. Maybe it's the order in which they're plugged in? Maybe there's a order in which each output fires up first?
Nothing to see here.

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
Can you test the voltage of each output? Sounds like the HX isn't getting the juice it needs.

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
It’s defiantly not getting the voltage it needs but that’s never been an issue before. HX Stomp manual recommends 2000ma adapter (mainly for initial boot up) but there’s plenty of people running them out of a 500ma output on these that I’ve read about with little issues. Unless it becomes an issue over time?

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
Could you run the HX off two chained outputs? Maybe if it had an extra 200ma on top of the 500ma output it’d be enough to get over the startup spike? I wonder if the CS7 has an over-current protection mode?

Could be a dodgy cable, check if there’s any resistance between tip and sleeve, as well as tip to tip and sleeve to sleeve

Re: Having trouble with my CS7 power supply
Nah, had been running my one off a CS6 forever. The switching tech means that it will draw what it needs to, vs the transformer based tech where what’s on the tin is all it can do.Reg18 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 9:51 pmIt’s defiantly not getting the voltage it needs but that’s never been an issue before. I had only one or two other pedals on the board at the same time which only drew a couple hundred mA between them though.
