BOSS GX-100 - Touch the Rainbow

Post by slash-ed »

Aaaah I'm so excited for this release. It's the thing I've been asking for more or less since the first year that I started at BOSS/Roland.

- Colour touch screen
- Dynamic assign blocks (not fixed signal chain)
- Sound engine of the flagship GT-1000
- In a pretty dang compact form factor!

I'll let Leon explain it in more detail:

Or if you prefer the OG demo guy Burgs:

Or if you just want to hear sounds, here's me!

Nice chops Ed, but Leon wins on the hair :winky:
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

If you use this as an effects unit only in your effects loop will it result in tone bleed?

Nice variety of demo tones Ed. Refreshing to see as so many times with these sorts of things it's very pigeonholed in terms of the demonstrator. Good to show a huge array of flex there.

So how does this stack up against the GT range?

They're patches that I made specially for the video :)

Thank you! Haha yeah as a classic rock dinosaur myself I'm constantly trying to challenge myself to break out of that box and remember that there are a lot more musicians who care about things that aren't from the 80s

Of course this is also dependent on your amp and its loop, but we've got good converters and buffers to ensure as little tone suck as possible! I

It sits between GT-100 and GT-1000 essentially. In price point and spec. GT-1000 still has the pro level features like XLR outs, dual effects loops, etc as well as inbuilt BT compatibility.

GX-100 is a different UI, BT module is optional, less total DSP but usable in a more flexible way. A pretty different unit actually!
