Re: Neural DSP Quad Cortex Helix / AxeFx Killah
Have you seen the price though? $2900 nzd excluding tax.
Its tone match feature is really good. If you can adjust like a real amp after the fact then it may be a Kemper killer too.

If their plugins are anything to go by this will be sweet. I tried that Plini plugin and it was amazing.
But yeah, expensive! That price is wouldn't be far off an AxeFX III if it was being sold by independent music I'm guessing. It seems like a lot for a floor unit. But hey, I'm keen to hear what one sounds like.

Re: Neural DSP Quad Cortex Helix / AxeFx Killah
I played one at NAMM, granted it wasn't finished (still isn't) but based on the models that were available at that time, I felt that it played really well to their existing strengths/target audience as a plugin company - tight, very fast response "djenty" high gain tones were great, as well as clean cleans.
I was less inspired by the medium gain British stuff (I think it was an 800 model) which is the most important for me, I certainly didn't think that it sounded or felt as realistic as an Axe FX.
I liked the interface, basically a built-in tablet screen so you can drag and drop things around and click on things etc. Could certainly be a challenger for the Helix Floor in that respect.
The IR stuff that's built in is pretty groundbreaking. It's essentially the ML Sound Labs MIKKO plugin built into the unit, so you can drag the virtual mics around etc and combine cabs.
The capture stuff wasn't available when I tried it but it'll be interesting to see if there's finally a rival to Kemper, though everyone just buys profiles rather than profiling stuff on their own so it might be hard to challenge the 100,000s of Kemper profiles already out in the wild for people to buy into.

While I try to deal with life it’s pleasing to know I can take a guitar, a cable, an amp, and make soul rewarding sounds.

I hear you man, when I got the flint earlier this week I just went Strat -> Flint -> AC10 and it sounded glorious, all these expensive space invaders machines don’t excite me any more.
