Buying from Japan via Reverb.com?

Post by RobRoyMcCoy »

Greetings Guitary-people,

I am interested in some kit that I found on Reverb.com at a store in Japan called ISHIBASHI MUSIC. Does anyone have experience is buying from music shops in Japan and shipping to NZ via the Reverb method (or direct)?

Timely thread for me. I'm after a double-bound Tele and it's looking like I might have to source it from overseas.

I’ve bought multiple things from Japan. Have had same week shipping. Faster than buying from NZ sometimes!

62 reissue in sunburst, double bound, would be sweeeeeeet!

Just keep in mind nothing is moving fast from Japan right now. I have three orders from USA stuck in Japan. There’s probably a 2-3 month wait I’m told.

Thanks Grant. Maybe now's not the best time to be buying then.

Ishibashi is a very renowned shop. They've been in business for years. I know a lot of guys over at the Mylespaul forum have shopped there over the past decade without incident.

I've had a couple of guitars come from the US via Japan and they got through there without delay. Major delays inside the US right now though - 3 guitars currently in transit for several weeks, not near an international airport yet...

LOL. Not quite... but one is a single-bound Tele Thinline. Limited Edition 2 tone.

i bought a fernandes ravelle from ishibashi-got damaged just enough to be annoying (binding on body broken and missing) they were pretty good to deal with but getting it fixed wasnt worth the hassle in the end.Made me wary of stuff that doesnt have a case ex japan ,as mostly they are in gig bags.

22 frets... :-( No good can come of a 22nd fret. ;-)

Got my heart set on a vintage spec jobbie. Surprisingly hard to come by.
