Small Multi Effects with Midi?

Post by Mattallica »

So i'm taking my two H9s off the board and putting them in the rack. This will leave my board with no DSP. I want to replace like for like. The replacements don't have to be as fancy, just the same size and plugs. The cheaper the better really.

It looks to me that a couple of Line 6 M5 are my best bet?

M9 would be a better choice IMHO :)

I agree it's a better unit. If it had the FX loop insert like the M13 i'd be in. I want one unit for the input and one unit for the loop

Boss MS-3?
All the digital Boss FX plus 3 extra loops for analog FX, and Midi.
Nothing to see here.

I'm using an ES-5 so the MS-3 was my first thought. Turns out it doesn't have midi in! PITA

Oh, what a pain. Arrogant design; they assume the MS-3 will be the heart of the board and controlling everything.

Exactly. Fine for small boards but not for expansion

Mattalica, I can highly recommend the TC Nova system. Midi in and out, really nice fx and pro features

Haha, yes it is. I've been gigging for a few months now with just the Nova, nothing else. I think BG uses one too.

If I were starting from scratch I'd grab one of the big floor units. However I've sunk too much into the board as it is now. May as well keep going...

I have a nova system. Very underestimated effects unit. Has stereo Panner and Delay which works awesome for my stereo setup. Robust and great sound quality. They're usually pretty cheap when they pop up 2nd hand.
