If I'm spending thousands on guitars and amps, it's a relatively small expense in the grand scheme of things. Whether you could get the same sound from a cheaper option is obviously a valid question. Personally I think the answer is usually "yes", but I haven't heard a Klone that sounds a good as the Halcyon Gold, or anything that gives a bright edge-of-breakup feel like a Benson Preamp. So in my mind they're money well spent.
I suppose we're getting in the territory of which is better, the original painting or the print.

Many are happy with the print, many would prefer the original.

Given perhaps a limited budget, another way to look at it would be the difference between having 16 dirt pedals and a dozen. :mental:

I starting making a spreadsheet for insurance purposes, and it's telling me some uncomfortable things.

Is this by count or total value. If the former, can I hazard a guess that you own approximately 120 pedals?

Do your best Dennis Lillee impression and steam in off the long run. It's all good fun.

Just by count. It's definitely at least 110, but there's stuff like desktop devices, or little boss mixers that aren't quite "stompboxes" that muddy that chart to about 116.

Going through the receipts has been interesting, although I've only done the trademe stuff so far, so mostly good deals.

Staying on topic though... this synth pedal looks cool, would like to hear a more detailed demo.

OOOf im just super jaded with the majority of gear chat i guess, most because americans dominate that space, At best they are ignorant of the rest of the world existing, at worst -the dictionary definition of loudmouth arrogant yanks. The whole sunken cost fallacy of you spend xxx on the guitars/amps, what is 400 in the grand scheme of things? is common-by the same rationale we should be spending 180 dollars on a set of strings... I mean it matters not a jot to me what people do with their money, People collect lumps of plastic they never take out of the box soo...lol

Came across these online a little while ago when looking at options for my distortion sound for the Blink 182 tribute. By far the hardest part of the guitar work is replicating Tom’s blended Marshall/Mesa tone. Went through a few different options and was really happy with my last one, and then I found these! Someone following our Blink project messaged me with a video of them re-creating a Boxcar Racer song and it totally sold me on grabbing one.

Released in very small runs, I managed, by luck, to have woken up in the middle of last night and when I checked the time on my phone I had the release notification. And they were nearly all gone! I got one of the last few and it should arrive before we hit the road in May!!

I think I’ve just about nailed down what will be the final guitar rig now. Stoked!
