Re: Youshop
They're not the cheapest, but as the Stuff article says, they're relying on their trusted name to get people using them over other similar services. Looking at all the extra charges you can rack up importing though - wow.

Re: Youshop
Very interesting.
Are NZ Post still government owned?
I wonder how the Ministry of Trade and Enterprise (or whatever they're called now) feel about this.

Re: Youshop
NZ Post are facing trying times with people not using their services any more, I'd say they'd be happy with them doing anything to make extra cash to stop the govt having to bail them out more
Interesting that you can declare value tho' and avoid gst, looks like only insuring things upto $250 too.

Re: Youshop
Cool, I have been using http://www.buyusa.co.nz previously. Buy Usa work well for US restricted delivery on Amazon and other online stores. Not so flash with anything needing a verified Paypal address.
It looks like Youshop may be a little cheaper on the postage front. Apart from that everything else seems the same except the US address is Portland Oregon vs Boise Idaho.

One thing to keep in mind, is many of the US based sellers won't sell to a non-US credit card, or to someone using a credit card whose delivery address doesn't match the credit cards address.

A lot of the more established freight forwarding companies have a service where you pay them and they buy the product on behalf of you.jeremyb wrote:One thing to keep in mind, is many of the US based sellers won't sell to a non-US credit card, or to someone using a credit card whose delivery address doesn't match the credit cards address.

Re: Youshop
my package had made it to youshop and they are forwarding. the US-to-NZ shipping price seems high-ish, I guess because the YouShip fee is included
