Hey there, I bought a nice solid-top semi acoustic a couple of weeks ago on the strength of the acoustic sound, even though the passive electrices were not so hot.
I now, much sooner than I thought, need to play it amped, and I have found it very trebley. I was tossing up between getting a) a lovely preamp to boost the output, or b) a sweet little EQ pedal to put it through.
I was thinking that I should get the EQ, 'cos that could be used for both the semi and the strat. I would eventually need both, so I can have both guitars set up on stage, but now I am looking at probably getting the preamp first.
I've placed a bid on this - http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auct ... d=13300137
What say you... O Gurus?

That unit is designed to condition the piezo signal to match the impedance to your amplifier. It should be just the ticket to solving your problem, assuming the pickup and preamp are compatible (which they probably are).
What is your guitar and do you know the brand/model of the pickup in there?

I've got a Compania, no... don't laugh... it sounded better acoustically than almost all of the other guitars under $1,000 in the shop. The sound is OK plugged in, its just that it took a bit of adjustment on the sound desk to get it right.ash wrote:What is your guitar and do you know the brand/model of the pickup in there?

The electrics are unknown. There is only a volume and a tone control.
How much I bid for the Fishman preamp? Or would an EQ do the job?

I'm not sure that an EQ pedal would help you, since it is designed to work with the impedances of a normal electric guitar pickup. I guess you could take it into a shop and try a few similar things out first.
I have no idea about a good price...As little as possible?
