Replaced V1 and the crackling went away. Weird. It's never usually that easy. Did get one or two more crackles until it was hot so maybe I'll replace all the preamp tubes.

Did get a PM from a member overnight asking about a trade if I didn't like the amp and I replied to say I'd let them know first if I was selling it.

When boss brought out that same sort of idea, I was dubious to their durability (haven't seen wide ranging condemnation so can only presume they're fine :) ) but I still think I'd probably bash them off at some point on any side entry guitar....

I think I prefer the cable and strap pack approach. Been awhile though.

Yeah I doubt they would do any good playing a gig but for me just playing at home I think they may be adequate, side entry they can flex up beside the side so maybe OK. All an experiment at a cheap price. :D

After some gnashing of gear snob teeth, I decided to try some of these. Hard to come by presently with supply chain issues for Wizz. There are some pretty wild claims about them online, "just like the real thing", "better than my PAFs", "I can't believe it's not butter" etc etc. They're up against a set of real PAFs, Throbak NOS wire MXV+, Throbak standard MXV+, and early 60's Pat No's with new Throbak UOA5 long mags. The Thro's with NOS wire are PAF peers as it goes so far with the Pat No's a slim close second. There's the benchmark.

Just arrived yesterday. Will hopefully place them in something this weekend.

If the cab isn't floating your boat I might be interested - I'm seriously considering throwing caution to the wind and getting something in the plexi/closed back cab world

picked up from Mosgiel by the courier yesterday

Gretsch G9230 Bobtail mahogany squareneck -2 tone sunburst electric/acoustic, in SKB hard case.

It'll be Blues, Country, Gospel. Probably not Bluegrass. Many hours of fun required!

It's supposed to be. It's a slide instrument, you lay it on your lap. You don't fret it.
