Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I haven't gigged for quite a few years but for me there's just "something" about an analogue tube amp with hand wiring that gets hot and that's apart from the sound. It's like having an old classic car as opposed to a high-tech modern car. With some knowledge and a basic tool set guys like us can still fix or modify them. You can't really do that with a digital amp (or a high-tech modern car), yes they are fast and efficient, sure you can add new patches or upgrade the firmware but for me it doesn't provide the satisfaction. I do not doubt that they can sound great and absolutely have a place (like the modern car). But they go out of date in a couple of years and essentially become junk. They remind me of cellphones. Those old classic tube amps are still around 60+ years later (like the cars) and when properly maintained sound/run as good as new. They could easily be around forever as long as someone is manufacturing or stockpiling tubes. And to me classic guitars are the same, that is they are essentially simple and can be worked on/modified with some knowledge and a basic tool set. Just my 2 cents!

The only references I could find for it were all posted on 1 April.

Ibanez LR-10 ex-Voxshall.
I loved this guitar when I visited his home last year. Told him that if he ever was silly enough to sell it, I'd buy it. He agreed and kept his word!
Hopefully picking it up on the 30th, unless anyone is driving Auckland-Whangarei sooner?

Shit, this might be what I need! Keep us posted on your thoughts on it please. Interested to see how compressed it is since it's wound pretty hot, or if it retains dynamics well.crowbgood1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 2:57 pm Gonna make my Tele "rock". I have ordered the hottest version.

I think I'll probably settle on a maximum of three electrics, so there won't be room for this and the PRS SC. But that PRS already has about three people in the queue.

The pedal I bought never arrived. Took an eternity to get a refund. My first and last experience with AliExpress.MikeC wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 5:24 pm I purchased a Joyo Vintage Overdrive from AliExpress on 16 April. Congrats! Regretted selling mine back in the day. Beautiful Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard on the guitar.....robthemac wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 4:23 pm Ibanez LR-10 ex-Voxshall.

A lot of these delays are NZ’s own system...not overseas. Once they hit the shores it can be another month currently...or more. I’ve got stuff that’s been in Auckland from Japan for a month...and today I see it’s got to Hamilton.

Just picked up a Laney Cub12 for cheaps; its also had the stock speaker replaced with a Celestion Truvox. Not too sure what they're like, will probably put a V30 in it if one comes up. Should do nicely for a grab and go solution.
Loving it so far
