Apparently they're inspired by (copies of???) the Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz set!
They are tonally very close! I wouldn't replace the pickups but I would definitely upgrade the electronics (better switches, pots etc) and shield the appropriate guitar cavities.

I've had great results from aluminum foil tape from Jaycar. Cheaper per metre than copper tape as well.
