I've got a Hakko too - very nice. Bought a "chisel" tip for it which makes it a very versatile iron. Found out that there are fake Hakkos - "Chakkos" if you will!
Here's how to spot the fakes... https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+ ... Plcy10A438

I've been thinking about taking off the housing so I can spray it different colours. The blue and yellow is a bit much.

These are discontinued so I like to tell myself I've bought the last new one in existence - helps to justify the wait: It shipped from the US on July 19th, spent nearly 3 weeks in the black hole known as Haneda Japan, finally arrived in NZ Aug 20th, out for delivery today.

Looking forward to having some fun syncing it up with the SDrum... if the family grants me 5 minutes to myself.
i have three packages in that black hole, one has been nearly a month i think!

Ideal, because looking at it in my cart along with stand, solder, solder sucker, wire strippers. . .. I thought shit, that's quite a lot of money for a couple of tools. But I've been soldering stuff here and there for close to 15 years on a series of cheap irons, reckon it's worth it if it lasts me years and years.

Same thing with me. I went through a lot of cheaper irons before finally spending the good money on the hakko, but that's the last I'll need to spend on a soldering iron.
