It's the real thing, a new one from 2023 with box, papers etc

Was that the one on tm from Hamilton? Old Si?
How does it sound?
I looked up some demos but was reasonably underwhelmed…

Yeah, came from Simon. Haven't actually tried it yet and might be early next week before I get the chance

Got a 5751 coming from Conway @ Tone Lounge, going to put it in my Laney Cub 8, hopefully get a bit more clean headroom out of it so it sits nicer with the AC10 in stereo

5751's all the way for me, and thanks to MikeC, I have a few to tide me over. Not sure if you'll see much difference in headroom tbh, for that I'd have thought you'd need to venture into the 12at, 12au or 12ay realm. I'm sure I have some kicking around if you wanted to try.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll likely play around with the NFB resistor if this doesn't have enough of a desired effectIMOCD wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 2:54 pm5751's all the way for me, and thanks to MikeC, I have a few to tide me over. It’s on the Laney cub 8 that I want to change itMikeC wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:45 pmHey JB, which is the NFB resistor on the AC10C1?jeremyb wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:25 pmThanks for the offer, but I think I'll likely play around with the NFB resistor if this doesn't have enough of a desired effectIMOCD wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 2:54 pm

Going back to 5751’s, they’re a magic tube in the right position. I’ve cooled down many a hot headed amp with these, and not just in preamp - phase inverters also.

So apparently the Monoprice 5W is the same amp under a different name, its all surface mount bullshit but I have seen people who have added a NFB pot wired to the pads where the NFB resistor is... R13 I believe on the schematic.
