I went to every local music store last year for a set of flatwounds. Nobody had any. Ended up having to order them online.

If the local music stores want our goodwill, they need to try harder.

I’m doing my best!

We stock flat wounds too…

- arse end of world and low volume business compared to say Oz
- all the big bois are their own suppliers so deeper cuts for their own stores
- Rockshop makes monopolies and cranks up margins
- Suppliers get greedy with their own margin

There is almost no margin - don’t get in the music retail game, it’s brutal.

You're right about that. We're not living in a populous US city where you can tell Alexa to get you new strings and have a drone from Amazon drop them at your door. I miss being able to go to Dick Smith for cables and stuff. I actually don't like buying stuff online, I prefer the feeling of going into a shop, browsing and buying, and walking out with the thing in my hand. But I also get how retailers could be considered superfluous in the supply chain of most consumer goods these days for some people, as much as it sucks. What bothers me is the endgame - no local retail means more money just flowing directly out of the country. What happens when we procure all of our goods and services (the ones that don't require in person contact) from overseas? Will the only jobs left be making each other coffee and selling each other houses? Working in the ChatGPT prompt mines? I don't know if anyone's thinking enough about this stuff.

Needed a new pair of sunglasses so chucked a couple lowball tirekick bids on Ray Bans on TM. Accidentally bought two adult pairs and a kids pair that I thought were cute. Whoops.

After much contemplation I’ve decided to give this Ron Thorn brass knuckle Tele bridge a go. No international shipping option on his page but Ron emailed with some options which were reasonable.
I’ll report back once it’s arrived.

Sorry mate, that wasn't meant as a dig against you, more the Rockshops of this world. I'd understand if you didn't have the same range of stock as the big chains as you're essentially a one man band operation. These others have the stores and the floor space, and no excuse.

Sorry if you're having a tough time, genuinely hope it gets better for you. Cheers.

Do you do bulk sets of 11-49 s?
I also need a couple shortish cables with right angle one end.
And all the picks you have….

Honestly, didn’t take it as a dig, I was complaining right alongside you! As a small semi-indie we get the same pain as customers, just at the next level. Like why every supplier was out of 9-49’s or 5ft guitar cables for a bit.

We have a good range of essentials but have same grumbles as customers eg even with those things I mentioned. People do use their monopolies to their advantage.

We’re doing alright, it’s a cold economic season and juuuust staying afloat but all retailers will tell you it’s an interesting time.
