Another vote for the G&L. I'm blown away by my tribute. Superb value for money. Or a Sterling Cutlass from rockshop. $599 seems like a good price. Good reviews iirc.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I sadly managed to buy a house without garage or workshop space, so tinkering is currently more trouble than it’s worth. What’s the width on the MIJ necks - my fingers are less refined and more agricultural, so I don’t think I’d want to have a neck tighter than normal. And YGM kdawg...
