Took the kids to McDonald's. Fuck me... The queue.

Did two order collections from Resene and Mitre10. Poor staff were run-ragged at M10. They'd had over 400 orders by 10am. They made a mistake with my order but I didn't have the heart to tell them. I'll just email a complaint to the boss. ;-)
I'm going to order Indian online rather than going for a greasy chain, hopefully that will help me avoid any queueing. After the first L4 lifted last year I went to get McDs for the family and the queue was massive, but there were two drive thru lanes with different entry points, and the queue was mostly only using one of them, so I went for the other one and 5 minutes later I was out of there.

This celebratory ritual is completely lost on me.

Whatever..Enjoy Lads!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Naa. The kids have been so good. I've not been able to give them a huge amount of attention between work and renovations. Seemed like a well-earned treat. Tasted like shit, mind. And $35 for the three of us...

Maate, nail on the head. Maccas is one of the most expensive options for the family now. We could easily spend $60 for the four of us, and it isn't a patch on the other options out there. We only ever do it when the kids finally win us over and it's been long enough that we've forgotten how bad it is.

We have a pretty good Indian restaurant in town now. Been here about a year. My standard order is kadai chicken (medium), butter chicken (mild), three garlic naan, and a portion of poppadoms. That's just shy of $60. Each curry comes with a separate rice and is enough for two people (just).

How does that compare with your local Indian?

We get a mains between us, 2 naans, extra rice and an onion bhaji for about $43. The kids only eat rice and naan, the missus the same plus the bhaji and sauce from my mains.

Fussy as. Looks like we're having fish and chips now anyway.

Nicest curry I used to have was in a restaurant in the Isle of Man. Last time I was there I saw Mackenzie Crook waiting by himself for a takeout order.

"Oi, Mackenzie! What you doin' in 'ere?! How's Ricky? Do that funny voice from the Pirates movie. G'wan... G'wan, ya miserable baaastard!"

Is what I should've said. ;-)

Nice. So very spendy, but nice. Do you think it'd live up to expectations?

That's the thing with not being able to try it first. Every demo I've watched has them sounding good, but it doesn't mean I'll have it humming.

That one is on Reverb for over 5k.
