What about the bass breaker amps ?
Toob, innit?

Haha funny regarding the bandit comments. That's on the list for sure.

Katanas is great. I couldn't stop tweaking mine... it was a dopamine drip feed that leaned heavily to sound chasing and little actual playing. I can't handle.

Never thought of the blues cube. Cool, will look at it.

This also has nothing to do with anything but me being a fool, but I've always felt weird playing high gain through a fender amp. It's stupid but I can shake it.

The distortion channel on a Frontman amp is fucking awful.

dayl wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 2:02 pm I have this thing... maybe it's all in my head or an over reaction.

I want a practice amp that could show up to a band rehearsal and perform. I just sold my Valvestate Head and cab because I wanted simplicity in combo form.

But here's another thing.

I don't want a tube practice amp because I'd be practicing while aware that it's not going to rip until I push it to levels the missus would spank me for.

Then there is modelers, I have had two Katanas from their inception. Amazing things that I will always recommend and one if the kids is getting. But for me, I don't want all the options. I don't want the knowledge that I get get more our of it if I hook it up to pc and tweak it.

I just want a good sounding solid state that is a good platform for pedals to do the work.

I've looked at the 60w and 100w Blackstar Debut series which look promising.

I think the Orange Solid State gear is pretty good but I don't see many options and for combos.

Any suggestions or experiences? Maybe this should be a wanted ad, maybe later.

I don't hate either tube or modelers, their accolades and reputation is undisputed, I just don't know that they fit.

Sunday musings ay.
OK.... BK Butler Tube Driver 100w combo. Yours for $100. :D

I have one of the blackstar debut 10watt practice amps. It has impressed me so much I have been contemplating selling my AC15 to get one of the larger ones.

yeah these are grand. Also - Blues Cube, Orange Crush, Peavey TransTube, Vox Pathfinder are all good. Edit- Roland JC series are excellent. Killer stereo chorus if that is your thing, stereo FX loop as well

The Trademarks are hard to come by these days aren't they? Heard they're really good for running modellers through. Been keeping a lazy eye out.
Loving it so far

I just picked up a Peavey Supreme head and it’s really surprised me how good it is. Apparently it’s basically a bandit in head form. Still cheap too!

Haha! Holy early 90's guitar world ads.

If you you're in Auckland and the cab is still fluffy, I'll grab it.

The 100w 112 are a reasonable price and the 50w even better. Both have had great reviews.

These are all great. Blues cube BC60 looks interesting. 10" speakers etc. Had a 20W Orange Crush and loved it. Need 60w minimum and Orange pricing gets up there. Had a JC100 back in the day also. Man... is lime paying Toyota tax for those things these days. Would own another in a heartbeat.

Smart man. I have too many amps, this doesn't get used but it's a great amp.
And it's very fluffy.
