Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Axe Fx 3 into a FRFR stereo setup, sounds great at family friendly volumes. 2800 Class D watts.
That lives out in my guitar shed however, can't always find the time to get out and play. I'm on the lookout for a good lounge setup that is headphone friendly, but will also run through a powered speaker. Otherwise just get a Katana.

The Marshall AFD100 is a great home amp at 100w, the power scaling down to 0.1w helps too.
Got a good downstairs space where the 18/20w amps can get played at a good level

I use the same amp for everything, it's an Orange Crush 35. But really, the wattage isn't always a good measure of how loud an amp is.

100watt Superlead with an attenuator still sounds good at bedroom volumes to me, matter of fact I was enjoying this exact scenario this arvo at pretty much talking volume. Here’s the proof.

Has built in speaker for when you can't be bothered with headphones.
Can do headphones, obviously.
Plug the Recording Out into powered speaker when you need more juice.

Re: How many watts is your home/bedroom amp?
Being essentially a 100% bedroom player these days, ive had all sorts of setups over the last few years.
Most recently i had a lovely PRS Sonzera 20 1x12 combo, which i bought thinking it would be bedroom friendly enough.......egg on my face.
20W of tube power is still insanely loud. Even though i ran it as a clean pedal platform, it was just not suitable for the bedroom. So it ended up out in my sleepout and ultimately didnt get used. Sold that and decided to go solid state. I just got a bit tired of messing around with digital modellers, menu diving, PC editors, patch creation etc. Just wanted to go back to basics and have pedals for the different sounds and a decent sounding (zero tube maintenance) and volume friendly amp, so i picked up a Tech 21 Trademark 60. Sounds great. Also stupid loud, but at least at low volumes it essentially sounds the same as it does at higher volumes, tonally. It doesnt "thin out" like the PRS would at really low volumes.
Would like to pick up another to run in stereo, but i also have my eyes on the newly announced Hiwatt Leeds 50 combo or perhaps even a USA made red stripe Peavey bandit if i can find one for the second amp. TOTALLY overkill, but i keep telling myself that ill join a band again one day lol

The endless pursuit - high volume, hard pushed amp tone at bedroom volumes.

Are you using 2 FRFR or a single stereo one? Which one(s) are you using? I've been stung by the stereo bug, currently just using my studio monitors at home.StratMatt wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 7:30 pm Axe Fx 3 into a FRFR stereo setup, sounds great at family friendly volumes. 2800 Class D watts.

Good call with the recording out option, never even considered that!slash-ed wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:00 amA Katana *head* might split the difference for you?StratMatt wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 7:30 pm Axe Fx 3 into a FRFR stereo setup, sounds great at family friendly volumes. 2800 Class D watts.

Running 2 Line6 L3T speakers. They're getting on a bit now but they've taken an absolute beating and never had an issue. They're massive though. I would probably choose something a bit more portable given my time againcodedog wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:15 amAre you using 2 FRFR or a single stereo one? Which one(s) are you using?
