Whoever said the AC30 puts 30W is absolutely lying.

100w since volume is more about knob taper and speaker sensitivity than actual wattage in a home situation.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

I have thrashed 36W Marshalls or 40W Fender/Mesa amps. I've never got an AC30 anywhere near breakup.

I'm being somewhat facetious. I suspect their output claims are accurate, or as accurate as any manufacturer (who tend to quote what the amp can sustain, rather than peak output right?). It's probably more the upper treble Vox spike that "sounds" really loud.

The sonic shape makes them seem sooo loud. My JMI 30/6, full tilt, used to fold space and time, all the while disembowelling anything that came too close.

Depends what I have to do.

Little Blackstar Practice amp if I'm just learning songs.

My Marshall stack is too big to lug upstairs although I used to have a 2x12 in the lounge to plug into when I wanted to.

I also have my old Jansen IA715 head and 2x12 lurking around but they're their own thing.

So now I keep a stage monitor upstairs and plug my pedal board with UA Lion into that and practice at any level I can get away with. Added bonus that I can work out pedal tweaks which translate to the full amp set up and just bypass the Lion.

I’ve had to neuter my AC30 with Greenbacks. Blues are just so unbelievably loud and at the volumes I realistically get to play at never hit their stride

15w Supro Deltaking 12 if I just wanna plug in and thrash. If I want to use my pedal board I run Optimus that measures 32w clean, usually into a 212 cab, but lately just a 112 for something different…

That's interesting. I have a Blue sitting next to my 1x12 18W combo, currently housing a Cream. I thought the sensitivity should be ballpark, but if that's not the case I might be better off leaving the Cream in there.

It's fascinating, 30w rms clean on the oscope into a dummy load is the same amount of power no matter what amp is producing it. Just goes to demonstrate how many other factors contribute to the sound volume. Ive read that the Beatles needed more powerful amps than AC30s to hear themselves above the screaming so along came AC50s! Fun stuff for an amp nerd like me :geek:

I found the cream smoother and sweeter, loud but not yelly. Felt it worked with lowish vol Ac30 and loved it with fender things. I like lots of solid low end though
