How many watts is your home/bedroom amp?

Post by MiniForklift »

So for me it's a 50w head with the master up around 3, guess I'm relatively lucky as I don't have any neighbours that are overly close to our house. At the moment I have an AC15 and a Laney LH50R head, the Laney is the one I tend to plug into the majority of the time

I'm interested to hear what everyone uses at home :D

The big one is a 120 watt but I like my neighbours so haven't cranked it yet as I have quieter options

I'm in suburban Whangarei on a quarter-arce, so not an apartment situation, but not a rural lifestyle block either.

I have 12W, 18W, 22W and 50W, the middle two are non-MV. I use them without attenuation. In the middle of the day I'd have any of them turned up basically to the point of breakup without stressing too much about volume. At night I'm more cautious.

Speaker/cab makes a huuuge difference, too. Closed 1x12 with the Jensen P12Q is very quiet compared to the open 1x2 Creamback.

100w, or 25/10w.

But mostly 100w because it just sounds awesome (Mesa Tremoverb).

Modelling setup so it comes down to which power amp/cab or powered cab I'm using with the AX8 but in order of descent:

- Alto TX12 1x12 600w
- Laney LFR112 FFR powered cab 400w
- SD Powerstage 200w
- Harley Benton GPA 100w

When I'm making preset adjustments/new scenes, it's the Laney as it's easiest to shuffle up my IR's but my main home-jam setup these days in terms of plug+play comes from guitar into one of these with the HB into my 4x12 Splawn .... great preamp pedal that does all the core Fender/Vox/Marshall/Mesa tones ... sounds mean on the Friedman BE and 5150 presets. A score at the $40 I paid off TM for it.

Surprisingly, that setup sounds pretty killer even at low volumes.
