Fender Pano - verb
Anyone else spot this Jack White signature amp just released by fender.
Can’t say I care for the yellow but at least it’s different I guess
“ a unique speaker configuration of a 10-inch Jensen P10R and a 15-inch Jensen C15N. These speakers are driven by independent 20-watt and 50-watt power sections, resulting in an enveloping 70-watt wash of stereo sound. Next, the Pano Verb’s true spring reverb splash can be routed to both speakers or just the 10-inch, while the old-school harmonic tremolo section grants you the option for stereo and mono operation. And while the three Fender amps that inspired the Pano Verb are revered for their lush and dynamic cleans, this amp’s +26dB adjustable boost transforms even the mildest signal into a sneering snarl.”

Re: Fender Pano - verb
Yeah I watched the videos, nice to see some innovation but still undecided if it’s practical for the most part. I couldnt quite figure out if the 26db boost is designed to smash the front end into a jack white fuzzed out sound or just a huge increase in headroom?

Re: Fender Pano - verb
I saw it and it looked cool - I agree about the yellow. I haven't heard a 10 inch and 15 inch speaker being played in the same amp together. He mentioned in the video it was great for recording, but I wonder what they sound like just being played in a room.

Re: Fender Pano - verb
Nobody needs 70 watts and a 15" speaker to play in a room. On a stage, it could be superb; it's an amalgamation of some great amps. Bi-amp in a box. Cool idea.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Fender Pano - verb
I bet it would be fun
I sort of disagree about big amps and home use. I love the sound of big clean amps, particularly with a bit of attenuation. They sound different to low watt 10” amps .

Home use is probably the only place for large tube amps any more, sound guys at gigs are gonna want you to turn down as the PA does all the heavy lifting these days, but having to run an attenuator kinda feels like stuffing a potato in the exhaust of your V10 lambo

Genuine question JB. Which sound guys where?jeremyb wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:18 am Home use is probably the only place for large tube amps any more, sound guys at gigs are gonna want you to turn down as the PA does all the heavy lifting these days, but having to run an attenuator kinda feels like stuffing a potato in the exhaust of your V10 lambo
I've never had that happen. Well, except once in 2003. The guy doing sound for our return gig/Private party (one of the top soundies in NZ who I won't name here) saw our Marshall half stacks and came up to tell us we needed to turn down.
Me, being a bit of a dick, told him "well, you shoulda bought a bigger PA!"
He looks at me for a bit and then, to his credit and cool as a cucumber, left and came back with more high powered speakers!

Ssssshhhhh I'm parroting internet wisdom, there are only two answers, 1. I need a 100W amp for more clean headroom... and 2. Sound guys want you to turn down.Capt. Re: Fender Pano - verb
It wasn't sound guys as much as venue owners, at least in my experience of the Auckland wedding/covers scene circa 2005-2017. Constant quoting of noise limits (one guy comically suggesting 80dB), use of decibel metres, worried managers, but very few actual complaints.Capt. Lol, this was my question too! Although sound guys are getting more common at small regular gigs these days it would seem, and it has to be beneficial overall, surely!
A soundman at a multi band gig a few years back asked me to turn my rig down and I just said to him that I had heard the band before us and I couldn’t hear any guitars out the front at all so I wasn’t leaving him in control of my volume…

Re: Fender Pano - verb
Theres the other issue too that with more people going direct these days then the front rows get a terrible mix from a loud drummer and whatever they can hear from the PA to the side of them...

Imagine the sound guy or venue owner there asking them to turn it down a bit!

Re: Fender Pano - verb
Often 20watts can be too loud for some venues, I personally like how a bigger amp holds together better. As a bit of a dopamine chaser myself, hitting a few chords on my 100watt head yesterday covered my quota for the day. In saying this I exclusively use Tone X pedals live and all physical amps are technically “home practice amps”
