Re: Amplification Journeys
Just gonna start with what I can remember then top it up as I go.
Tiny amp that literally melted with home made fuzz.
Jansen Bassman 50 and upright 2x12. Not sure if I actually owned this but I recall it being around for quite a while.
Rockit 130 with 15 inch combo. I loved this amp until I hated this amp. Need a repair before I found out it was one of the ones by the guy that split off from Anil and the original Rockit factory.
'65 Fender (Blackface) Twin Reverb Amp. With an MXR Distortion + (script), a Dynacomp, a Crybaby and an Ibanez Flanger FL-303 (the Yellow one) it was Glorious. Later added an MXR Pitch Transposer. One of the greatest effects that never made the mainstream. Amp and guitar stolen. Wish I still had that.

Edit: I feel it’s worth noting the complete absence of Mesa Rectifier from the list. To this day, I still haven’t played one. No mean feat in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, and probably top 3 life achievements that I’m proud of. I also hold the Mesa Rectifier wholly responsible for everything bad that happened to Shihad after the fish album.

I could have happily stopped at Amp #3 (Slash Head). The JMP-1 preamp was a major "ahhhhh" moment for me too - not surprising when you look at who was/is using them (Def Leppard, Mustaine, Gibbons, Corgan, Iron Maiden). Right in the kisser. Does a great No Rest for The Wicked tone too - which is one of my all time favourites.

One of these: https://reverb.com/p/fender-twin-amp-2- ... -2001-2010
It cost me $600 and I swapped it for an AC30
My lasting impression was kinda noisy and truly awful drive channel

I started thinking about this and thought that it would be easy, it wasn't.
* = still own
x = owned multiple times, not usually at the same time
1980 something : Carlsboro Cobra
1980 something : Carlsboro Stingray Head
1980 something : Wem Valve something with matching speaker
1980 something : Some unknown bass amp, no label never bothered looking
1980 something : Various practice amps that regularly had beer poured over and into them
