Re: Amplification Journeys
Hmm, I think:
DH Soundtank
Marshall Valvestate 80
Blackheart BH5 "Little Giant"
Orange Dark Terror
Line 6 HD500
Jet City JCA20H
Line 6 HD100
Peavey VK100
Boss Katana
I think that's the lot, and I think it's in order. Kinda surprised there's as many as there are.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

Can you folks please mention when you bought your first amp? I am trying to catalogue mine, then realised it all happened in the past 10 years only!

Re: Amplification Journeys
As best I can recall it.
1994-1997: Fender Princeton Chorus (hired from school for a few terms)
1998-2001: Peavey Rage (Cash convertors buy) followed by a Peavy Classic 30 combo (which I traded up to from the Rage)
2001-2003: Gunn 50w head + matching 2x12 (good pedal platform)
2003ish: JCM 900 50w + Crate 4x12
2004: DSL 100 + 1960AV, Laney AOR100 head,
2005: 8100 Valvestate head (Cashies score, made a wicked backup head),: JCM800 2x12 combo,
2006: Rivera Knucklehead
2007: Peavey 5150 combo, Rectoverb head
2008: Rivera Duo 2x12 100w combo
2012: Splawn Quick Rod
2013: Mesa Mini Recto
2014: Tiny Terror head
2015: Single Recto head
2016: Carvin combo (forget details)
2017: Blackstar HT100, Mesa Stiletto combo
2018: Katana 100
2023: Fractal AX8
I know I'm missing at least 3-4 higher tiered amps that slotted in between 2005-2015 that I might have bought and flipped quickly, a dozen or so cheaper amps and probably a bunch of speaker cabs I've logged and flogged - Laney 4x12, Mode 4 quad, Ulbrick oversized 4x12, Marshall 2x12 etc... but my mainstay has long been my Splawn 4x12 that I traded my Mini Rec head with Kloppsta for about a a decade ago, and won't part with until time claims my ability to move it physically
The best: Splawn QR, Knucklehead, Stiletto combo
The worst: None really, otherwise I wouldn't of purchased. the 5150 combo weighed a ton, and sounded better running through a cab though.
Honourable mentions: Classic 30 kind of does everything very well bar metal. Mesa Mini Rec did everything with the right tweaking.
Trends I've noticed is that I prefer EL34 based 100w amps for that Brit high-gain sound, and for clean headroom.
Ultimately, I'm way happier with a modelling setup now as I effectively have about 80-90% of all these tones in my arsenal now.

Re: Amplification Journeys
The journey started in 2014. Beyond the first four, I can't remember the order:
Wee Marshall solid-state thingy. Can't remember the model
Vox Valvetronix something-or-other. Can't remember which model
Vox AC4C1-12
Laney VC30-112
Laney Cub 12R
Laney Ironheart Studio
Laney IRT30
Vox Pathfinder 15R
Fender Frontman 15R
Fender Super Champ XD (ex-Danny)
Boss ME-80
Boss GT-100
Boss Katana 100
Princeton-ish handwired clone in hippie flowers painted tolex (ex-Oleg)
Fractal AX8 with Headrush FRFR 12
Still have the following:
Laney Cub 10
Vox AC4C1-12... again.
Those two don't get too much of the already meagre playing time since I bought a Kemper Stage. Used to play it through the FRFR, but now using my KRK monitors for stereo fun.
Can't believe the money I have spent on amps over only 10 years. Ah well, it's a fun journey.

1990 was the one I was gifted by may parents for a birthday, my first amp. First one I bought myself would have been 1996 maybe?
