Does it have android phone connectivity, or just apple?

Android's is in Early Access at the moment. I have it installed but haven't tried it yet. It's officially mentioned on this product's page though. Maybe it will be out of beta soon?

The problem is App dependancy... when they stop developing it and it doesn't work on the latest phones the pedal becomes a door stop.

It wont kill off the kemper stage because our egos tell us we need more footswitches.

Yeah, man...this, big time. It's my main hang up with going anywhere near digital at all. That, plus the data harvesting that goes on every time you access said app.sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:19 am The problem is App dependancy... when they stop developing it and it doesn't work on the latest phones the pedal becomes a door stop.
It happened with digital recording format shifting. As soon as shit becomes ones and zeros, the industry has you by the sack. It was Steve Albini's whistle-blow about digital...he wasn't against the 'sound' of digital vs analogue, although it was pretty shitty back then, it was the constant churn of formats (CDs, DVDs, ADAT, DAT, DA-88/Hi-8, digital multi-track tape, 8 bit, 16 bit, 18 bit, 20 bit, 24 bit, 32KHz, 44.1KHz, 48KHz, 98KHz, yadda) and you had to keep the old platform to run your old masters, plus buy the upgrade to attract clientele. Redundancy is expensive.
At some stage the spec moves on and the one you're running is left unsupported. There's too many players in the mix here...iOS or Android plus Kemper. I doubt Apple is going to curb their business model to sync better with Kemper's client support. How many fecking phones will I have to keep and keep track of to maintain comms with my wang box(es)?
Re: What a lot of us have been wanting from Kemper..
I think the desire to use a Kemper will cease long before any existing apps stop functioning on whatever the current iteration of your hardware of choice is, whether it's Android or iOS. The apps will stop getting maintained which might be annoying, but that's the same story with any kit that requires software or firmware updates.

Re: What a lot of us have been wanting from Kemper..
I'm trying to think what the downside would be with having one of these. I have been a fractal user for the longest time and I love the tones - but even now I hate making changes on the fly at rehearsals. If I know I need to make changes I would much rather take my boss katana because it's just so easy to use. A phone app and this pedal would be so intuitive.
My only irk is - are the effects good enough? And will 4 effects be enough? I don't think I've ever done a gig with more 4 effects. I wouldn't add external pedals and the single mono XLR out would be fine for me. Most of my usage is very simple but could easily add other plugins in reaper while recording.
One thing I'd want to confirm is if you can send the full output via XLR and then turn the cabinets off and send that out the 1/4 inch outputs. Just because I'm not very familiar with kemper stuff.

Biggest issue I see is power requirement. Haven’t seen any actual current draw figures yet, but the unit says 24 watts, which is 2.67 amps @ 9 volts or 2 amps @ 12 volts. So, you can put it on a pedalboard but will probably need a separate power supply for it.

I’m not convinced enough about it to consider returning to the dark side…

What’s the verdict on the KEMPER Player?
Who’s got one in NZ?
Have been considering buying another amp I don’t need, thinking I might be better to look into the KEMPER Player. Looks like it’s just over 1k landed?
