Trem issues

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

Need a little help from the amp gurus
My 50w 6g9 bassman clone is a clean machine. Great for surf. But I've noticed more break up / distortion when the trem is engaged.
Is this something that I can trouble shoot ? Trem circuit in these things can't be too complicated. I don't think it's bias trem so assuming it's optical.
What would cause the increased breakup ?

6G9 is a bias-wiggle trem, so if it’s distorting it’ll probably need a bias adjustment to fix the issue. Turn the speed down and carefully listen if it’s distorting on the silent end or the loud end of the tremolo pulse. If it’s distorted on the quiet end, it could need a hotter bias.
