The Fender "Special Design" yellow label speaker (which is an Eminence 1258 but with a lesser 50W power handling capacity) is great for a DR. It is efficient and has tight, slightly subdued bass. Ants, I can lend you one to try.

Ive ordered a Eminence Maverick 12" from live sound that they were listing for $250.
Rob pointed it out. I have to say ive never seen one of these before. Seems like a really great take on attenuation, but not the same as a standard attenuator.
From the interwebs these speaker do not “attunate” in the normal sense of the word. Real attenuators generally add compression, roll off high end, get muddy, etc. The Emi FDM technology avoids these factors and allows the volume to be reduced with a knob on the rear if the speaker that moves the magnet to adjust the sensitivity of these speakers from 99-91. But they don’t add compression, cut high end, etc. They’re different - better - than an attenuator for this reason"

Wonder if anyone has experience with one of these speakers. They do get good reviews online.

I have 2x Creamback M65's in my cab with my Deluxe Reverb head - love the sound. Subdues the shrill and slightly evens out the Fender blackface mid-scoop thing, which I like. Definitely not a 'trad' approach, though.
