Re: First World Problems - New Amp Choices
I like those Supros, I tried out the 8”
And the 12” the other day (10” wasn’t in stock)
The 8” didn’t sound as “boxy” as I was imagining and had a really nice tone, volume was far to low for anything useful out side of the bedroom.
The 12” one defiantly was better all round but I’d say it was still only marginally loud enough to get some proper band levels.
I liked the tones of both though.
Edit: I think
It would cover similar territory to your AC10 though, I’m
Not sure what they are based on but seemed more mid rangy British than Silverface clean to me.

Seems to me the obvious question is, "What are you trying to achieve?"
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: First World Problems - New Amp Choices
Find a complimentary amp to my AC10 to run in stereo with it, so something not el84, but with a fender kind of tone…

Do you play clean or dirty?
Are you looking for complimentary or contrast between the two sides of your signal?

jeremyb wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 8:09 pm So I've been deliberating over posting this but I've got a budget of maybe upto $1500 to spend on a second amp and having some dilemmas over what to choose.
I've narrowed it down to either wanting something tubular with a 6V6 or two, 8" or 10" speaker, or maybe another digital amp? I don't need reverb or trem, but the following in no particular order are on my shortlist:
Supro Super 64 1606 - like a champ but slightly different flavour, single knob for the win.
Supro Delta King 10 - also like a champ but more knobs, digital reverb.
Blackface Princeton Reverb - Would need to build from a kit to stay in budget...
Blackstar Custom 10 (6L6) - So not 6V6's but...
Tweed Champ - Again would build from a kit, but I think for the money the supros would be a better investment.
But then theres the digital....
Boss Nex-Stage 40W, Nextone technology with the ability to choose 6V6, 6L6, etc power valve emulation.
Line 6 Catalyst 60W, cheap AF and sounds decent, the boutique mode especially appeals as its kinda Dumble-esque.
So what would you guys do? what other suggestions might there be?

Get something from ceriatone. VHT RT ain't bad either.

Try a Laney Cub12, I was quite impressed by the one I tried a couple of weeks back.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: First World Problems - New Amp Choices
Both, prefer a clean amp which I dirty up with levels of OD or fuzz I guess I want a complimentary contrast (if thats a thing??) something that imparts a bit of its on flavour on the tone but doesn't step so much on the toes of the AC10.
